MICHAEL J. MORAN, MBA, MS
HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVE
HEALTHCARE PRESIDENT & CEO

Michael’s 20+ year career in healthcare spans C-level leadership, operations, practice management, consulting, and direct patient care. He is known as a transformational leader who excels at guiding organizations of varying sizes through complex dynamics such as accelerated growth initiatives, retrenchments, acquisitions, and corporate restructurings. He has a record of building top-performing leaders and teams dedicated to achieving the organization’s mission and goals.

Most recently, he served as President and COO (2021 – 2025) at Trinity Mount Carmel Medical Group, a multispecialty medical group with 350+ providers and 1,000 employees. Mike was tasked to swiftly identify and correct the organization’s core performance issues, which impacted six service lines: primary care, heart and vascular, pulmonary/critical care, women’s care, behavioral health, and neurosciences.

His priorities were to establish a governance structure and standardize practices across the enterprise, focus on core services while eliminating unprofitable ones, and improve the overall patient experience by leveraging technology and digital solutions. Equally important, he developed the group’s first leadership program and succession planning model to strengthen the pipeline of future leaders and retain existing talent. This comprehensive retrenchment strategy delivered $30M in EBITDA in three years and established the foundation for continued growth and profitability.

Previously, at FTI Consulting (2020 – 2021), one of the largest financial and restructuring advisory firms in the US, Mike advised clients coast-to-coast in areas including operations management, valuation, compensation planning, productivity, and leadership mentoring.

As Chief Operating Officer, Inova Medical Group, at Inova Health System (2017 – 2020), Mike was sought to improve financial and organizational performance for 12 businesses including primary care, heart and vascular, neurosciences, behavioral health, hospital medicine, rheumatology/endocrinology, and women’s health. In under three years, he improved EBITDA by 12%, building a solid foundation for sustainable future profitability.

From 2012 to 2017, Mike operated a consultancy, Viable Health Solutions, LLC, specializing in business development, strategic planning, and revenue growth for medical groups and physicians. Some of the projects he completed include developing a Hospital-Employed Physician Enterprise, developing an IPA (Independent Physician Association), and restructuring a multi-site hospital/urgent care facility.

Previously at Hampton Roads Orthopedics and Sports Medicine (2009 – 2012), Mike served as the Administrator of this $50M specialty practice. As the executive lead, he drove the aggressive recruitment of new providers, resulting in growth from 20 to 350+ providers. He spearheaded the transformation of board governance and introduced the practice’s first Board code of conduct, which was instrumental in establishing discipline, structure, and accountability. His other transformative initiatives resulted in a staggering 20% improvement in EBITDA in less than three years.

Mike’s earlier career includes roles as a Healthcare Consultant for Alta Partners, Manager for Parma Community General Hospital, Multi-site Manager, Manager of Workers’ Compensation Operations for NovaCare Rehabilitation and as a Staff Athletic Trainer at Carnegie Mellon University, New Hampshire Musculoskeletal Institute, the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Club and University of Pittsburgh Sports Medicine Center.

He holds an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College and a Master of Science in Sports Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh as well as a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from Canisius College. He has served as a Board Member for the American Heart Association and as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees for New Albany Chamber of Commerce. Mike is a member of the American Medical Group Association and Medical Group Management Association.
